Hedstrom Lumber produces 'specialty lumber products', biomass burned at the plant is not sold as electricity or heat. The main air emission units at the facility include a wood-fired boiler, a natural gas-fired boiler, a dry kiln, and a planer. However the total facility permit application (and accompanying addendum - letter dated February 23, 1999) also includes the addition of a second wood-fired boiler, a second dry kiln, and a second sawdust/shavings materials handling system. In terms of pollution control equipment the original wood-fired boiler has a simple cyclone for particulate control, the new wood-fired boiler will have a multiclone for particulate control, the planer has a simple cyclone for particulate control, and the saw trim system will have a simple cyclone for particulate control.
