The combustion turbines would use synthetic gas, generated by a gasifier fueled with pellets containing municipal-solid-waste and Ohio coal.
Collaborators include nanotechnology firms in Cedarville, Miamisburg, and Akron, the Ohio Polymer Strategic Council, Rhodes State College, Ohio State University, the University of Dayton Research Institute, and the Edison Materials Technology Center in Dayton. American Trim Inc., of Lima, and the Center for Multifunctional Polymer Nanomaterials and Devices, of Columbus, are also involved.
The project is currently in construction with concrete foundation work being carried out at this time. Construction, which will accelerate in 2006, will involve several hundred workers over three years. Commercial Operation of the IGCC is expected in late 2008.
