From: July 17, 2012 Contact: Lawrence Pacheco (202) 346-8855 Lawrence.pacheco@fticonsulting.com Morgan County is the Preferred CO2 Storage Site for FutureGen 2.0 "FutureGen 2.0 would be a first-of-its-kind near-zero emissions power plant...upgrading the Meredosia Energy Center with oxy-combustion technology to capture more than 90 percent of the plant’s carbon emissions...the CO2 would be transported and permanently stored underground at the nearby storage site... The FutureGen Alliance is a non-profit membership organization created to further the development and demonstration of near-zero emissions coal technology. The FutureGen 2.0 program is supported by a $1 billion commitment in federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
